Get Off the Couch!
By, Callie Buchanan
How many times have you seen a therapist in a sitcom or movie have a client lie down on a couch as they sit with a pen in hand? If you’re like me, I picture a scene like this in my mind when the word “therapist” comes up. Interestingly, therapy happens very differently from this image at Valdosta State’s clinic, FamilyWorks.
The therapists at FamilyWorks work with individuals, couples, and families through open dialogue. This means therapy is done in an active and engaging way. The therapists at FamilyWorks are marriage and family therapists and are experts in building and maintaining healthy relationships.
In therapy sessions, you will never see your therapist with a pen in hand refusing to make eye contact with you. FamilyWorks therapists want to build a relationship with you as a client and we never require you to lie down on the couch; unless you want to of course.
Are you interested in a new way to do therapy?
